  • Report details you submit (for example: general location/facility name, city/area, ZIP code, date, and relevant notes)

Automatically Collected:

  • Device information (browser type, IP address, device type)

  • Usage data (website visits, link clicks, and interactions)

  • Approximate location inferred from IP address (limited accuracy)

  1. How We Use Your Information

We use your information to:

  • Send SMS alerts about lice-related community reports in your subscribed ZIP codes

  • Respond to your inquiries via email and/or Facebook Messenger

  • Improve our service, prevent abuse, and enforce our policies

  • Maintain SMS consent, opt-in/opt-out, and messaging logs for compliance and operational purposes

We do NOT:

  • Sell your personal information

  • Share your personal information with third parties for their own marketing

  • Use your phone number for unrelated advertising

Service Providers:

  • We use third-party vendors to operate LiceAlert (for example: SMS delivery, web hosting, link tracking, analytics, and customer support tools).

Social Platforms:

LiceAlert is intended for parents, guardians, healthcare professionals, school administrators, and other adults. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe a child has provided personal information, contact us so we can take appropriate steps.

We retain information for as long as reasonably necessary to:

  • Provide the service (including sending alerts you requested)

  • Maintain SMS consent/opt-in/opt-out and messaging compliance logs

  • Prevent abuse and enforce our Terms

  • Comply with legal obligations and resolve disputes

  1. Community Alerts and User-Submitted Reports

LiceAlert may receive and publish lice-related reports submitted by community members (“Community Alerts”). We may review and may edit submissions to:

  • Remove personal identifying information

  • Improve clarity and formatting

  • Reduce risk of harassment, misuse, or safety issues

We do not guarantee we will publish every submission, and we may remove or modify content at any time in our discretion.

  1. Acceptance of Terms

By using LiceAlert, you agree to these Terms and the Privacy Policy. If you disagree, do not use the service.

  1. Description of Service

LiceAlert may provide:

  • SMS notifications about lice-related community reports in specified ZIP codes

  • Facebook Messenger support

  • Public alert posts on social media

  • A public directory of lice-related service providers

  • Links that connect you to third-party providers or resources

We do NOT:

  • Verify the accuracy, completeness, or timeliness of Community Alerts

  • Provide medical advice, diagnosis, or treatment recommendations

  • Guarantee alert delivery (carrier filtering, outages, and platform limitations may occur)

  • Guarantee that any provider listed is available, effective, licensed, insured, or suitable for your situation

  1. Community Alerts = User-Generated Content (Important)

Community Alerts are based on information submitted by community members and/or information provided to us by users. They are informational only.

You understand and agree that:

  • Community Alerts may be inaccurate, incomplete, outdated, misleading, or false

  • A Community Alert does not confirm lice are currently present at a location

  • A Community Alert is not a statement that any specific person has lice

  • You should use judgment and confirm suspected lice through appropriate methods (for example, inspection by a qualified professional)

No Endorsement / No Verification:

  • LiceAlert does not independently verify Community Alerts, does not endorse user submissions, and does not guarantee outcomes.

No Harassment / No Vigilantism:

  • You may not use LiceAlert to target, harass, threaten, shame, or organize harassment of any person, school, facility, or business.

  • You may not attempt to identify, contact, or expose the identity of any reporter.

Not Affiliated:

  • LiceAlert is not affiliated with, endorsed by, or sponsored by any school, district, facility, or organization referenced in Community Alerts.

  1. Reporting Guidelines

Report Guidelines:

  • Reports should be based on actual observations or direct knowledge

  • Include accurate ZIP code and general location details

  • Do not include personal identifying information about individuals (including names of minors, photos of children, private home addresses, phone numbers, or other sensitive information)

  • Do not submit false, misleading, or malicious reports

  • Do not use the report system to defame or harm others

We may reject, delay, edit, limit distribution of, or remove reports for any reason, including safety, privacy, legal risk, or quality.

  1. Directory and Third-Party Providers

If LiceAlert displays or links to providers:

  • Providers are independent third parties; LiceAlert does not employ them and is not responsible for their actions or services.

  • You are responsible for vetting any provider you contact.

  • Any transaction or service is between you and the provider.

Provider Profile Updates (No Logins):

  • Providers may be permitted to request changes to their listing by submitting updates for review.

  • LiceAlert may approve, reject, or edit requested changes in its discretion.

  • Providers do not receive logins unless and until we explicitly offer that feature.

  1. User Responsibilities

You agree to:

  • Provide accurate contact information

  • Use the service responsibly and lawfully

  • Not submit false lice reports

  • Not abuse or spam the system

You may NOT:

  • Use automated tools to access, scrape, crawl, or copy the service without permission

  • Resell or redistribute alerts at scale without written permission

  • Harass other users or submit false information

  • Use the system to harm, defame, threaten, harass, stalk, or dox organizations, businesses, educational facilities, or any other entity or person

  • Interfere with or disrupt the service

  1. SMS and Messaging

Consent:

  • By signing up, you consent to receive SMS alerts related to LiceAlert.

  • Message frequency varies based on report volume and your subscribed ZIP codes.

  • Standard message and data rates may apply.

  • Message delivery is not guaranteed (carrier filtering, device settings, outages, and other issues may occur).

Opt-Out:

  • Text STOP to unsubscribe/opt-out at any time.

Support:

  1. Content License (Your Submissions)

If you submit content to LiceAlert (including reports, text, location details, or messages), you grant LiceAlert a non-exclusive, worldwide, royalty-free license to use, reproduce, modify, publish, display, and distribute that content in connection with operating and promoting the service (including on social media and via SMS), subject to the Privacy Policy.

You represent and warrant that:

  • You have the right to submit the content

  • To the best of your knowledge, your submission is truthful and not submitted for an improper purpose

  • Your submission does not violate privacy rights or applicable law

  1. Takedown / Correction Requests

If you believe a posted Community Alert:

  • includes prohibited personal information,

  • is being used to harass or endanger someone, or

  • is materially inaccurate in a way that creates a safety or legal concern,

contact us so we can review it. We may remove or modify content in our discretion.

  1. Limitation of Liability

LiceAlert is provided "as is" without warranties. To the maximum extent permitted by law, we are not liable for:

  • Missed or delayed alerts

  • Actions taken by others based on alert information

  • Technical failures or service interruptions

  • Carrier filtering or delivery failures

  • Third-party content, platforms, providers, or links

  • Any damages arising from reliance on Community Alerts or directory information

  1. Indemnification

You agree to indemnify and hold harmless LiceAlert against claims arising from:

  • Your use of the service

  • Your submissions (including Community Alerts you submit)

  • Your violation of these terms or applicable law

  1. Termination

We may suspend or terminate access for:

  • Terms violations

  • Abuse of the system

  • Safety, legal, or operational reasons

You may cancel and unsubscribe anytime by replying STOP to SMS alerts.

  1. Governing Law

These terms are governed by the laws of North Carolina, without regard to conflict of law principles.

  1. Changes to Terms

We may modify these terms. Continued use constitutes acceptance of changes.
